Is Social Media a terrible topic to post about?
After taking a look at some of the top Social Media publications on Facebook, Social Media Examiner, Social Media Today, Social Media Week and a few others, I discovered that people don't engage with social media content nearly as much as they might with other content.
Social Media Examiner = 504,468 likes
Social Media Examiner is one of the top engaged pages on Facebook for the category of Social Media. Their article posts seem to get an average of 50 - 100 likes per post. Their videos seem to get around 100+ average likes per post and about 10k views. Their image posts tend to get around 200+ likes. For a page with over 500,000 likes I would assume that their fan base would be way more engaged.
Ben Ferguson = 524, 655 likes
Ben Ferguson is a right wing political radio show host. May of his article posts get 200 - 400 likes and they get lots of comments too. His picture posts can get likes up in the thousands, I just saw picture that had 6k likes. And his live video posts get around 20k views. The content on this page is getting more than double the engagement of Social Media Examiner.
Is sociale meia boring?
Ben Ferguson is a personality so that probably helps spike his engagement. I haven't looked at Gary V or Grant's socials lately, but I'm sure their content gets a ton more engagement than the "Brand" Social Media Examiner would. Also both these guys don't really post tactical social media stuff, they post motivation stuff which tends to work more.
So I'd encourage you to do your own research and see for yourself if you think the problem is the content or the brand.
