She said, "Get comfortable with being uncomfortable"
Early on when I was starting my first business I struggled hard. I was on a financial and emotional rollercoaster. One day I was super up, the next day I was super down. The ups and downs were causing me to go crazy. So I vented to someone who was really close to me and her words of advice were. Get comfortable being uncomfortable!
I decided to start meditating to deal with the stress. I meditated every day for about 3 weeks and through that meditation and self-reflection, I realized things weren't nearly as bad as they seemed. A lot of my stress and anxiety was made up by me and amplified by me and my lack of emotional control. After I realized this, I became a bit numb to the ups and downs and I started to expect that nothing would turn out exactly how I imagined so I became comfortable with "being uncomfortable." It was a game changer.
I mention this because I meet many people at events who are clearly having troubles with the ups and downs of starting a new business. Being an entrepreneur is like being a rockstar these days. Everyone wants to be an entrepreneur but it's not easy for everyone to do. There are so many factors that can lead you to have a more difficult time succeeding than others but you must learn to push through the hard times and adjust.
For some people, it could take years of struggling (like a starving artist) to succeed or have their big break. And during that struggle, many people give up.
So it really boils down to one question. Do you have the self-belief and stamina to make it through the hardships or will you quit before you succeed?
If you are struggling there are many ways you can adjust your mindset to have a more positive outlook but ultimately it's up to you to decide if its' worth it to continue or to give up and change course.
